Irish names are rising in popularity once again!
There was a few years there, where the use of traditional Irish names was beginning to dwindle.
But like most trends, it’s beginning to come back around in popularity and one name is standing out amongst the rest for new parents in 2024.
According to NameBerry.com, one very pretty name is skyrocketing in popularity and we agree that it’s a gorgeous choice for a baby girl.
Fiadh, which is pronounced (Fee-a), is derived from the Irish word for “wild”.
Twists on the name are also becoming common, like the shorter version; Fia.
That’s not all either, Fiadh is just one of the many Irish names for girls that are starting to crop up more and more this year.
Another popular choice is Aoife (pronounced EE-fa), an Irish name that means “beautiful” or “radiant.”
Meanwhile, Saoirse (pronounced SEER-sha) which means “freedom” in Irish, is now very well known away from Irish shores – mostly thanks to Hollywood actress, Saoirse Ronan.
The use of the name Ciara (pronounced KEE-ra) is also rising on the name charts and means “dark-haired” or “black” and originates from the masculine Ciaran.
