The (bizarre) rules Jessica Alba has to follow when picking a baby name

This makes things a little complicated

Trine Jensen-Burke

Anyone who has ever been tasked with the job of deciding on a name for a baby will tell you it is not as straight forward as it seems.

Like; there are so many things to consider. Are you going down the route of a family name or coming up with something rather more creative? Is short and sweet the way forward, or are you a fan of long and elegant-sounding monikers? One first name or two?

Funny enough, baby naming, unlike other tasks, tend to not get easier the more times you do them, as not only have you maybe used up your favourite names already, but already having other children tend to also put some pointers when it comes to the next baby’s name.

Which is certainly the case for Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, it seems.

The couple, who are already parents to Honor, 9, and Haven, 5, recently revealed they are expecting baby #3 and from the sound of it, coming up with a name for their new bundle will be anything but easy.

Alba, 36, recently chatted to Jimmy Fallon about the rigmarole name picking will be:

For starters, Jessica explains there’s a few, erm, restrictions they need to work within. “So my husband’s name… is Cash. It is a real, like that’s his actual, real name on the birth certificate, so, our kids had to have unusual names that also are words, and for some reason we chose ‘H,’” she explained.

And that’s not all apparently: “It has to be single or double syllable, has to be an ‘H,’ and it also has to be a word. And it can’t be too weird, because, ya know… like, a little unusual, but you know, what if they want to be a nurse?”

Yikes, you can see the struggle, can’t you?

So with Honor and Haven already off the table, even Fallon had a hard time, offering up suggestions like Hermit, Hail, and Heart.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see what they end up with!
