Call the Midwife’s Sophie Austin speaks openly about anxiety during pregnancy

Sophie Austin has spoken openly and honestly about suffering from anxiety during pregnancy.

The Call The Midwife actress said that she had experienced anxiety and panic attacks before becoming pregnant, but that it got worse when she was expecting.

Austin told OK! magazine:

“I suffer so badly with anxiety and I got it quite a lot when I was pregnant. I was in and out of hospital. The midwives kept an eye on me for panic.

“For years I didn’t tell anyone about it but now I’m quite vocal.”

Austin and fiancée Shayne Ward welcomed baby Willow last year.

The pair have confirmed that they want to have more children in the future, but that Austin wants to concentrate on her career for now.

She said:

“Yes, I would love Willow not to be an only child. Shayne would love about seven. But I’d like to focus on my career for a time.”

Coronation Street actor Ward added:

“Our first and last thought and everything we do is for her.

“She is the best thing that has ever happened. We can’t imagine our lives without her. She is always happy and such a bundle of joy.”
