The difference in this mother’s swollen feet during pregnancy is crazy

We have all been there..

It happens to the best of us and yes, swollen feet are just another normal symptom of pregnancy.

But it’s mad to see just how swollen your feet can get.

One mother, Australian fitness trainer, Chontel Duncan shared two photographs side by side highlighting her foot swelling in pregnancy one versus pregnancy two, and the difference is remarkable.

In pregnancy one, Chontel’s foot retained a large quantity of fluid making it look almost three times the size, however, in her second pregnancy she had absolutely no signs of swelling.

“This is the raw truth on how bad my fluid got towards the end of my first pregnancy. The second time around I have done nothing different but have absolutely no fluid retention.”

She decided to then share the images side by side to show just how different each and every pregnancy can be. And often symptoms you get in one pregnancy you might never get in another again.

Swelling, however, is not something to fear and is a common symptom of pregnancy. Foot swelling occurs when the body produces more blood and body fluids to help the baby develop. It then retains the extra fluid that causes swelling to soften the body and help pelvic joints and tissue prepare for delivery. Swelling can occur at any point during pregnancy and might be exacerbated by heat, standing, and high sodium intake.

Foot swelling can be alleviated by resting with your feet elevated, avoid standing for long periods of time and drinking water to help reduce retention.
