‘Singing Doctor’ who welcomed all newborn babies with a song receives honour for his ‘beautiful voice’

Jade Hayden

What a great guy, honestly.

Giving birth is hard.

Like, really hard.

Despite this, there are certain things that can make the experience that little bit easier.

Support from your partner, the baby coming out fairly quick, a lovely doctor who welcomes your child with a beautiful song providing them with the most adorable welcome to the world ever.

If you happen to live in Pittsburg, you could have probably availed of the above in the past because that’s where the so-called ‘Singing Doctor’ resides.

Having delivered thousands of babies over the past 40 years, Dr. Carey Andrew-Jaja sung each of them an adorable tune – and his voice is in fact so stunning and nice, that the city of Pittsburg have decided to give him a special honour.

May 16 is now officially ‘Jaja Day’ and yeah, we know, it’s almost too cute.

According to The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Dr Jaja earned the day earlier this year and he is, of course, only delighted.

“They’re special. Each of them is an individual,” he said in a video.

“I’ve delivered thousands and thousands of babies. When I’m singing to those babies, I think, ‘I’m singing to a future important person.’ That’s the credit I give to all of them.”

“So, to me, it’s a wonderful thing in my hands, the miracle of life. The rest of it is that it’s a beautiful world we live in. You forget about all the crisis going on everywhere for a moment when you see that miracle of life in front of you.”

Honestly, what a man.

Dr Jaja retired two years ago, but he did return on May 16 to sing one baby a special song to make the child’s birth.
