Emmerdale‘s Chas and Paddy pregnancy storyline is only set to get more upsetting.
The couple discovered recently that their baby daughter was not going to survive outside of the room due to a rare fatal disorder called bilateral renal genesis.
While Chas has decided to carry the baby to term despite this, the actor who plays her, Lucy Parteger, has said that audiences are going to be surprised to see how the storyline pans out.
And it sounds like things are going to get very, very upsetting.
Parteger told Metro.co.uk that the upcoming birth scenes are going to be “slightly different” to what people assume is going to happen.
She said:
“We can say it’s going to be slightly different to how people are going to be anticipating it. But that’s about all we can say.
“Considering it’s such a rare condition, the amount of people that have said they’ve gone through similar things, and it must be harrowing for viewers to watch if you’ve been through similar things.”

This comes after the couple decided on godparents for their daughter, Marlon Dingle and Liv Flaherty.
The scene last week showed Chas and Paddy sitting down with the pair to ask them for “a favour.”
Chas explained to them:
“If things were different; if the future was easier…well then one day, Margarita would have a huge christening.
“And we would want you to be godparents.”
