Losing a child and suffering from pregnancy loss is one of the most devastating things a person can face in life.

It’s a loss that can be nearly impossible to wrap your head around, but having a strong support system in place is vital.

That includes both your loved ones, as well as your medical team.

Finding out the news that your baby has passed away is something doctors need to handle in a sensitive way.

Delivering that news is so harrowing, but you must be caring and gentle when speaking to your patient.

One fertility doctor revealed that there is a certain way the news should be shared.

In a video, Dr. Lora Shahine explained that it is such a life-changing moment for patients so you need to be gentle.

“This is a life-changing moment for the patient,” she shared.

She explained that being compassionate and supportive is essential for all doctors.

“We can do so much good in this moment – support and compassion are key,” she stressed.

“I have some tough news to share. The ultrasound did not show a heartbeat,” the doctor continued.

“I know, it’s so hard. This is not your fault, you did nothing wrong, and we’re going to take really good care of you,” she stressed.
