A new report has confirmed that we as a nation are good at a) making marriages last, and b) having babies.
The ‘Measuring Ireland’s Progress’ report, published by the Central Statistics Office, compares data to see how Ireland compares to the rest of the European Union.
What it found was that we as a country have the second highest fertility rate in the EU at 1.96 per female (the statistics are taken from 2013 and France topped the list).
The research also showed that marriages in Ireland last as we have the lowest divorce rate on record at just 0.6 per 1,000 people.
We don’t know what you think of these numbers but we take pride in the fact that Irish family life seems to be in pretty good shape!
