Kate Middleton reportedly planning to have baby number 3 at home

No more hospital births for the Duchess.

She’s going back to basics.

Royal women have for centuries chosen to have their babies at home, most recently with Queen Elizabeth, who had Prince Charles and his three siblings at Buckingham Palace.

Further generations of the royal family have opted for hospital births, with William and Harry and George and Charlotte all being delivered at St Mary’s Hospital in London.

That could all change, however, as Kate and William are reportedly keen to have her third child at home in Kensington Palace.

The royal couple and their two children have moved to the London palace from Anmer House in Norfolk and a royal source has revealed that they want to go down the traditional route and have baby number three there.

The source told Woman Magazine that Kate had requested a home birth in the past.

“The Duchess knew it wasn’t possible for her first baby to be born at home, but she asked for a home birth for the second. Officials and doctors thought it too risky. There was concern and in the end she decided against it.”

Just 2.3 per cent of women in England and Wales give birth at home, according to 2015 figures from the UK Office for National Statistics.

The number of home births is even smaller in Ireland, at fewer than 0.5 per cent of all births as of 2011.

Kate is believed to be in her first trimester of pregnancy.

Kensington Palace announced last week that she’s suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, the severe morning sickness that she also endured during her first two pregnancies.
