Kathryn Thomas had a prenatal scan on last night’s Operation Transformation

Kathryn Thomas became emotional as she underwent a prenatal scan on last night’s Operation Transformation.

The presenter in 32 weeks pregnant and opted to share part of her experience with viewers of the show by having a scan on camera.

Luckily, everything was as it should be for Kathryn and baby, who’s due the first week of April.

“Head first, so it’s in the right position, heartbeat and fluid around the baby is fine,” her doctor told her.

“It never ceases to be amazing,” Kathryn said as she began to tear up.

“The message is exercise is good and keep doing it while you’re pregnant,” her doctor continued.

“You can’t take something that is for everyone. You take the general message and then you apply it to yourself.”

Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1 yesterday ahead of the scan, she told Ray D’Arcy that she wanted to promote fitness for pregnant women.

“Every pregnancy is different, every woman is different, but I’ve gotten special clearance from my doctor and from the trainer that I work with,” Kathryn said.

The Carlow native is expecting her first child with fiancé Padraig McLoughlin.

In a candid interview on the Late Late Show last month, she revealed that she had suffered two miscarriages in the past.

“It was very difficult to stay positive because all of my life, all of my job… everything that I do, for me it’s like one of the best things in the world is instilling positivity and self belief,” she explained.

“You go through self-blame, you go through ‘why me’, you go through ‘is it ever going to happen’ and it’s very testing on a relationship as well.”
