Humble as it may seem, but banana bread is actually a very enriching snack for mums-to-be, thanks to its high levels of vitamin B12.
Both banana skins and eggs contain this essential nutrient which plays a key role in activating folate in the body.
Folate is used by the body to maintain and repair blood vessels and so is particularly important in periods of growth such as pregnancy.
I wish I'd known how good banana bread was during pregnancy when I was pregnant as I wouldn't have stopped making it.
I absolutely love banana bread but usually don't get a chance to make any as the kids always eat the bananas we have before they get over ripe.
Might just have to buy extra at my next shopping trip and hide them away.
