Baby EJ weighed just over three pounds.

Some woman.

Raelin Scurry was just 29-weeks pregnant when she began feeling what she thought were Braxton Hicks contractions.

She was, however, in labour.

In the front seat of a moving car with her fiancée Ean behind the wheel, Raelin realised that she wasn’t going to make it to the hospital.

The couple were on the phone to emergency services when the mum-of-one removed her pants, reached down, and felt her baby’s head between her legs.

The baby was born en caul, meaning that the amniotic sac was still secured around its body.

Raelin took to Instagram to share a photo of her “miracle” baby the moment he entered the world.

In the post’s caption, she told the story of baby EJ’s birth.

At first, Raelin was “so scared” that the baby had been born en caul. She told her fiancée to keep driving instead of pulling over like emergency services suggested.

“At first the baby was still and all I could do was pray he would be okay. And then I rubbed his face with my thumb and he pulled his little hands and feet up to his face as if he understood my prayers and wanted to reassure us he was okay.

About 7 minutes passed that I held this miracle baby in my hands until we made it to the hospital.

He was born an caul. This happens 1 in every 80,000 births. Usually during c-section. He was 3lb 1oz. He’s doing wonderful all things considered (…) I know he’s going to be an awesome little man!

He is truly a miracle baby. We are so blessed to be his parents.”

Baby EJ was born 11 weeks early. He weighed just 3lbs, 1oz, but Raelin is assuring everybody that he is doing well.

Fair play, Raelin.
