This Mum’s Incredibly Calm Birth Video Has Been Seen By 12 Million – And You’ll See Why

Trine Jensen-Burke

In movies – and even shows like One Born Every Minute – birth is often depicted as a loud, painful and even rather bloody experience.

Having had two amazing and really beautiful experiences of giving birth myself, I will be the first one to say that this is not always the case at all.

What it is, though, is the most powerful, beautiful and yes, possibly also painful thing you will ever go through in your life. It is, to try and put it into simple words, life changing.

Few of us are able to watch a birth on film of TV without tearing up – I know I’m sure not, anyway. It tugs at our heart strings, seeing these other new mamas feel those very same feeling that we all have felt. Knowing how it feels to for the very first time be able to kiss that little face, feel those little fingers grasp around yours and welcome that baby – the one you have known and loved for months already – into the world for real. It is universe defining stuff.

This video posted on Facebook a few days ago by midwife Lisa Marie Sanchez Oxenham is all of that. It is also so, so calm. And completely beautiful. Which can explain why more than 12 million people have watched it

On Sept. 3, Sanchez Oxenham posted the incredible video on Facebook. Just under a minute long, it shows a mum delivering her baby in a birthing tub alongside her partner. She is perfectly calm as she pushes the baby out and welcomes her newborn son into the world.

“My client Audra’s beautiful second home birth,” Oxenham wrote in the caption. “A midwife’s role is fluid, providing whatever is necessary for each individual birthing experience, although almost always that role is simply to offer the gift of quiet.”

The striking water birth video has so far gotten over 46,000 likes and 87,000 shares, and when you watch it, it is not hard to see why.

Congratulations to this gorgeous mama and her beautiful growing family!
