Mum’s post about ‘extra skin’ on her postpartum body is important

An important message.

Jasmin Mercedes recently gave birth to twins and her message about her postpartum body will resonate with other mums. She has an Instagram following of almost 50,000 and her bio describes her as a "as a stay at home mom working on her future, snapping back & eating well". A recent post shows her playing with her children and the caption explains how she views her body since giving birth. Jasmin says that her abs have been replaced with skin and while that might be enough to anger other new mums, listen to what she says next.

"skin perfect for my babies to grasp onto to pull themselves up on, skin they love to kiss, skin they sometimes mistaken for a boob, skin that held them dearly for 37 weeks [and] three days and now hold them up to stand".

I see more in this picture than anyone. Before I would take a picture like this it would be in a perfect outfit, with the perfect lighting with my perfect abs....sans twins of course. Now in this moment my abs are replaced with skin...skin perfect for my babies to grasp onto to pull themselves up on, skin they love to kiss, skin they sometimes mistaken for a boob ?, skin that held them dearly for 37wks 3days and now hold them up to stand. They literally crawl all over me like it's the best thing they get to do all day....I love this, I love motherhood & I love my perfectly imperfect body that gave me these amazing beings. If you were in any way emotional before starting this piece, this might have you balling because she's perfectly described how her babies rely on her and how important that is. She does mention her 'perfectly imperfect' body but from where we're standing, she looks great so we will take that with a pinch of salt. Other mamas have identified with her post too as you'll see from the comments with one person saying that motherhood changed her and another telling Jasmin that her post is "amazing" and an excellent reminder not to concentrate on flaws.
