Welcome to week 14 of your pregnancy! This week, your baby is as big as a peach. Here’s what else you can expect this week.

Your baby

Baby is approximately the size of a lemon and about to begin a period of rapid growth, possibly quadrupling weight over the next month.

As the eyes move closer to each other and body proportions change, your baby now looks less like an alien being and more like a teeny human. Your baby can now clench and unclench its tiny hands. Practicing for a time when it will clutch your finger. The bones continue to harden. And baby’s chin is rising away from its chest and it can frown and squint. Resting cute face?

You

Wow! Is it possible that you just woke up feeling energetic? And doesn’t your partner appear vaguely attractive again — or possibly even more attractive than pre-pregnancy? You can expect your appetite to increase around this time and your breasts make become quite sensitive. Don’t despair, they are gearing up for the greatest job of their lives – lactation.

Anything else?

If you’re still not feeling great, don’t be disheartened. Relief may be just around the corner. Remind yourself what an amazing experience this entire pregnancy is! Also consider getting the flu jab around now, particularly if you’ll be pregnant sometime during flu season (generally between October and May). Don’t worry: Being pregnant doesn’t increase your risk for flu shot side effects, according to research.
