A pregnant Amy Childs was pictured drinking prosecco: THIS is her reply

Gillian Fitzpatrick

Yesterday, reality TV star Amy Childs was photographed at a salon seemingly drinking a glass of prosecco.

In the resulting snaps, the 26-year-old is also holding onto a bottle of open bubbly.

She is currently 35 weeks pregnant with her first baby – a girl.

Now, and after enduring 24 hours of intense criticism, Amy has responded.

Taking to Instagram, the Towie star has revealed that the bubbly in question was in fact, non alcoholic.

“So it seems I’ve been criticised following a set of photos which surfaced yesterday,” she began.

“I’m pretty hurt that people would think I am the sort of person who would put my baby at risk. Under no circumstances would I ever do that. Being a mum is something I’ve dreamt of for so long and I wouldn’t ruin it for an act of selfishness.

“The pictures you are all referring to have been taken way out of context. I’m a girl that loves a glass of fizz, but since finding out I was pregnant I’ve not gone near a drop of alcohol.

“Instead, I’ve found a non-alcholic version of my favourite drink (prosecco) @scavirayuk which means I can still enjoy myself and have a chat with my friends over a drink!

“I hope this clears it up for anyone that was doubting me. I will always put my baby first.”

Yesterday, one angry observer had gone online to not only flag Amy’s glass of bubbles, but also her hair dye and her stilettoes.

“3 things you don’t do when pregnant, wear stiletto heels, dye your hair with chemical hair dye, oh yes, and don’t drink ALCOHOL !! No regard for her unborn child,” they stated.

Another critic, although acknowledging that the drink was non-alcoholic, still found plenty to find fault with.

“Regardless of whether it was alcohol free or not – posing like that, bottle in hand, looking like she is drinking – while pregnant, is setting a bad example to young, vacuous fans of hers.

“Seriously, if that little baby is born unscathed from this pregnancy, she’ll be lucky. Mammy is still getting stuff injected into her lips and face…”

Ouch.

At HerFamily (and whatever about the likes of Botox and fillers!) we think it’s great that are increasing non-alcoholic options available to expectant mamas.
