“Quite a dark place”: Vogue Williams calls out people for body-shaming her after pregnancy

“I wouldn’t want to be a young person growing up in the age of social media”

The changes your body goes through during pregnancy can be pretty overwhelming. It isn’t an easy journey for any mum and the last thing any woman needs to deal with is trolls shaming them because of how they look during pregnancy.

Vogue Williams was targeted by trolls after giving birth to her second child, daughter Gigi. The mum-of-two constantly received comments about how she looked too skinny after pregnancy.

Speaking to The Sun about the body-shaming she experienced, Williams said she suffered from extreme morning sickness throughout her entire pregnancy with Gigi.

“Everybody’s body is different. I didn’t put on that much weight, because I was really sick all the way through.”

“With Theodore it started at nine weeks and went around 15 weeks, but with Gigi it started at the same time and I had it until I gave birth.”

“I did go a few times crying to the doctor because I felt so awful, but I never had to go on a drip.”

Luckily, the mum was given anti-sickness tablets to help, but despite her struggles, the trolls continued to critique her for not looking a certain way.

Everyone’s body will change in its own unique way during pregnancy. Some will have a bigger bump, some will have a smaller bump. At the end of the day, all that matters is that both the mum and baby are safe and healthy. Appearance is the last thing anyone should have to stress about during pregnancy, right?

Vogue said the trolls don’t bother her anymore, but she expressed her concerns about other pregnant women who are subjected to constant criticism about their bodies.

“I see women online who’ve just had a baby and people are saying nasty things to them, and when you’ve had a baby your hormones are all over the place and it’s a million times more difficult for them to deal with criticism.”

“I always think, ‘Keep your mouth shut about everyone’s body anyway.’ It would be a lovely world to be in if we could not talk about anyone’s weight!” she stressed.

The mum-of-two added, “The trolls don’t bother me anymore but that comes with age. I wouldn’t want to be a young person growing up in the age of social media because it can be quite a dark place.”

We couldn’t agree with her more. It really is time for everyone to stop passing remarks about post-baby bodies and bodies in general.

As the saying goes, “If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
