Meet the Rainbow babies: Giving hope after miscarriage

HerFamily

A group of mums who have suffered miscarriages and stillbirths got together to spread a little positivity.

Instead of wallowing in the personal grief each mother has experienced, they formed a little team and posed for a photoshoot to inspire struggling mums everywhere.

A ‘Rainbow Baby’ is a child born to a mother following a miscarriage, neonatal death or following the loss of an infant. The origin of the meaning is that a welcome rainbow appears following a harsh storm.

Together with photographers Natalja Karpova and Elena Ganneko they created these photos of their ‘Rainbow babies’, which have gone viral.

These images were entered into a popular competition on a Russian photography site “Puzi Raduga,” meaning “Rainbow Bellies” in Russian. The website hosts regular competitions to celebrate and elevate the status of pregnant Mums in society.
