“Recovering and adjusting”: Aoife Walsh gets real about becoming a mum for the first time

Kat O'Connor

“It’s definitely been a huge learning curve.”

Aoife Walsh has opened up about life as a first-time mum and we just love how honest she is.

The new mum welcomed her baby girl Penelope Rose into the world last month.

Aoife and her daughter returned home from the hospital last week and it sounds like they’re settling in perfectly.

The former Miss Ireland shared a sweet photo of her cuddling her daughter.

Alongside the adorable photo, Aoife opened up about how she has been adjusting to life as a mum.

“Swapping bikinis for pyjamas this August…. And I really wouldn’t have it any other way. Spent the last little while recovering and adjusting to my new life as a new mummy with the best little lady I could ask for,” she told her followers.

“It’s definitely been a huge learning curve and most mummy’s on here will probably agree the first few days/weeks are the hardest with sleepless nights, poo watch, round the clock feeds and at the start, it was a bit overwhelming but these days I’ve found myself smiling so much,” she admitted.

Aoife said there are hurdles and tricky moments, but it’s worth it all, “And of course laughing when the nappy explosions hit off the nursery walls!! Every time I look at her she makes my heart jump and just enjoying this newborn bubble.”

Penelope Rose is Aoife’s first child.

The mum confirmed she was pregnant in March.

“A special little secret I’ve been minding these past few months…. surprise!! I’m expecting a precious little baby in July and feeling so grateful for the journey ahead,” the mum wrote alongside a photo of her sonogram.
