"Long story short, I just found out that one of my bridesmaids will be five to six months pregnant on my wedding day.
"This bridesmaid was also planning my super secret bachelorette party that I know no details of, but I'm assuming it involved drinking that will probably either be changed or cancelled.
“Maybe I’m just thinking the worst here. But personally I think it’s wrong to get pregnant when you’re part of the bridal party and not tell the bride...”
The response to her question - "Am I allowed to be pissed or am I just selfish?" - hasn't been too favourable, with many people pointing out the issues with her reaction.
One person admitted that while it was good she was "entertaining the idea that this reaction is selfish," there may have been a reason her friend was apprehensive to share her news.
They wrote:
"Is it possible that she didn't tell you because she knew your reflex reaction would NOT be 'Congratulations! Let's get you a bridesmaid's dress that is comfortable!' but instead, 'This is going to fuck up my bachelorette party'?"
Someone else commented:
"It's not wrong to get pregnant if you're going to be in a bridal party. You can't ask someone to put their life on hold for your wedding. You are being selfish."Another person said:
"First, don’t assume that because she’s pregnant the party will be cancelled. Pregnant women have been working around alcohol forever. Second, people don’t put their lives on hold just because you are getting married whether they are on the wedding or not. So yeah, super selfish."
