Sophie Ellis Bextor forced to deny she was ‘hoping for baby girl’ after giving birth to fifth son

Jade Hayden

Ah lads, honestly.

Yesterday, Sophie Ellis Bextor gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Mickey Jones was born 7lbs 1oz, making him the fifth boy to join Ellis Bextor and husband Richard Jones’s “… quirky little family.”

Following the birth, Sophie shared a photo of new dad Richard and Mickey enjoying each other’s company in the hospital.

She also posted an IG Story of her first night with her newborn.

It was all pretty adorable.

However, Sophie has also had to deny that she said she wanted to have a little baby girl instead of another boy.

According to an article in the Sun, the mum-of-five had “hinted” that she was hoping for a baby girl just a few days before giving birth to Mickey.

Sophie has said that there is no truth to this at all, and that she has only ever wanted “whatever babies I’ve been lucky enough to have.”

Taking to Twitter, she wrote:

We don’t blame her either.

The suggestion that a new mum would be anything other than delighted with her newborn son would be worth denying in most circumstances.

But when it’s online for the entire world to see and judge before your very eyes?

Not having it.

And Sophie wasn’t either. Fair play to her.
