“I will carry on working.”

Stacey Solomon has said that she won’t be taking maternity leave after she and her boyfriend, Joe Swash, welcome their first child together.

The Loose Women panellist appeared on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Wednesday, where she explained the sad – yet understandable – reason why.

She said:

“I’m self-employed so if I don’t work, I don’t get paid.

“In this industry you can only earn while you’re earning and it might be a situation that I have work now but in six months time I might not. I will carry on working.”

Stacey and Joe announced that they were expecting their first child together last month.

The former X factor winner posted a photo of an ultrasound scan on Instagram, telling her followers how overwhelmed she was by the news.

The 29-year-old wrote:

“Every time I go to write anything I sob so… what he said @realjoeswashy.”

Joe appeared on Good Morning Britain soon after sharing the news, where he told how they were “really happy, really excited” as he was flooded with congratulations.

He added:

“We’re really happy, really excited. We just feel blessed… I’m well trained I’ll be fine, we’ll be fine it’ll be good. She’s all good she’s excited we just can’t wait for it to happen now.”

Stacey has two sons from a previous relationship: 10-year-old Zachary and 6-year-old Leighton. Joe has one son, 11-year-old Harry.
