Belly cast: The new pregnancy trend expectant-mums love

Kat O'Connor

Would you try it?

Another new trend has won over expectant-mums and it’s actually quite sweet. Baby bump casting is the current pregnancy craze, but would you try it?

What exactly is belly casting? It’s basically a very sweet, and slightly messy, way of capturing your pregnancy before baby arrives. Mums often share how they miss their bumps so this is a sentimental way of holding onto the pregnancy days after your tiny tot arrives into the world.

So, how does it work? the belly casts are made by simply placing strips of medical grade plaster over your baby bump. You have to sit still for at least a half hour and then the cast is left to dry for up to 48 hours.

Some mums even decorate the cast with their children or loved ones, or you can leave it plain. Whatever tickles your fancy!

It is recommended that women make their bump cast when they reach the seventh or eight month of their pregnancy, but many mums make numerous ones to document their pregnancy journey.

Belly casting is super safe and causes no harm to baby or to you, but it’s important to make sure the person making your bump cast is using medical grade plaster gauze.

This new trend may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is a lovely, and creative, way to remember your pregnancy.

Plus, it also makes a unique baby shower gift.
