A weather presenter in the UK has set up an initiative to make greeting cards for premature babies more common.

Laura Tobin gave birth to her daughter, Charlotte, 12 months ago after going into labour early while she was at work.

The Good Morning Britain presenter said that the “difficult” experience was made a lot easier by the greeting cards she received from friends and family members who didn’t really know what to say.

However, Tobin also noticed that there were no cards available specifically recognising premature birth.

Speaking on GMB today, she said:

“I feel really moved because I know that anyone else who has a premature baby, those words for them will be really supportive and it will bring some happiness on these really long days.

“It will mean friends and families aren’t so awkward about it. The hospital where Charlotte was born, they all said the same. They all said how they felt, how they wish they had cards.”

The cards are the first line launched in the UK for babies born early.

GMB, Hallmark, and sick baby charity Bliss teamed up to make the cards a reality and to give premature babies and struggling parents a bit of comfort.
