Meghan Markle has been calling baby Archie ‘bubba’ and ah, stop

God bless this info.

Royal nicknames are, seemingly, a thing.

They, like us plebeians, call each other by names that are not their own, proving that they have personalities, enjoy a bit of variety in their lives, and are just like us.

In the past, there has been much chatter around Kate Middleton’s nicknames for Prince William, Prince William’s nicknames for Princess Charlotte, and Princess Charlotte’s nicknames for The Queen (probably).

Now though, everybody’s all over the fact that Meghan Markle has got a nickname for her son (!), Archie.

Madness, altogether.

According to PEOPLE, the Duchess of Sussex has been referring to her first born as ‘Bubba’ while on royal tour in South Africa.

Surprising? Not really. Adorable? Yes, alright.

The magazine reports that Meghan was encouraging Archie to say hello to Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his daughter, Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe.

“Say hello! Hello, hi!” she allegedly said before Archie turned away back towards her, in infant-based fear.

Meghan then said: “Oh, Bubba” while holding the child close to her chest.

Now, it is entirely possible that ‘Bubba’ is, in fact, the Duchess’s nickname for Archbishop Tutu. We do not have any concrete evidence to refute this claim.

Not completely unlikely, in fairness.

Meghan, Harry, and Archie’s South African tour will last a grand total of 10 days, as the family travel around the place meeting people of note and engaging in some crucial photo opps.

In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday morning, the Sussexes said they were “honoured” to introduce Archie to the Archbishop and his daughter.

“The Archbishop, a globally respected figure in anti-apartheid movement, is one of the world’s great champions of equality, and has spent his life tirelessly battling injustice,” they said.

“Their Royal Highnesses have joined The Archbishop and Thandeka to learn more about the work of The Tutu and Leah Legacy Foundation, and see first-hand how they are focussing on global awareness of the critical issues affecting the world.”
