If you’ve ever wondered whether a home birth might be messy or chaotic, take a look at this.
Hilary Duff has just shared a beautiful video of herself holding her newborn daughter Banks for the first time after giving birth.
Hilary welcomed the little girl in a water birth at home back in October – and the whole scene looked incredibly calm.
The actress said that the video, which shows Banks stretching and wriggling in her mum’s arms in the moments after the birth, is “extremely personal”.
“It was so absolutely lovely and rewarding (and shocking) that after giving birth to my baby girl we hugged for the first time,” she wrote.
“In my mind I like to believe that she was saying good job mom. Go team go. We did it. Together.”
Hilary was surrounded by her partner Matthew Koma, her mum and her sister for the birth while her son Luca apparently played with Lego downstairs.
Continuing, she said it felt like five-month-old Banks “has been here with us all along”.
“Feeling blessed for this full hectic life and all the people in it.”
The 31-year-old and her partner Matthew Koma announced their relationship in January 2017.
She had seven-year-old Luca with NHL player Mike Comrie. The couple married in 2010 and announced their separation in early 2014.
