This office lets new parents bring their baby to work until they’re six months old

What an initiative.

Being a working parent can be difficult.

You need to go to work, earn a living, making some money to support your family, all the while still needing to raise your kids, spend time with them, and ensure that the house doesn’t fall down around you.

There’s a lot to consider, and even more to sort out when you’re desperately trying to keep a roof over your head.

One office in the States is now doing their best to ensue that their workers (who also happen to be new parents) are as supported as possible when making the transition between maternity leave and returning to work.

As part of the US’s Infants-at-work programme, the office of The Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa has decided to allow new parents to bring their child to work for up to six months after the baby is born.

Mother.ly reports that the move was backed by the company’s CEO Beth Shelton, who believes that it is entirely possible to bring your baby to work and still be just as productive.

“With the Infants-at-Work program, we’re supporting parents in their transition back to work, and creating a space where having children and advancing your career can happen simultaneously,” she said.

She added that the company wants to normalise the idea that having a child and advancing at your career are not mutually exclusive.

A fantastic idea – as long as the babies sleep more than they cry!
