Think you’re having a bad day? : Mom accidentally names baby ‘Lasagna’

Melissa Carton

How did she manage to do that?

We all mess up as parents but this mum definitely takes the cake when it comes to hilarious mistakes.

Well, not exactly a mistake but more something she just really didn’t think through or sound out beforehand.

The mum in question posted to Reddit to share the story of how her daughter got her name.

The woman described how she knew she wanted to use the name Elizabeth from the moment she found out she was having a girl and decided to make it Elizabeth Anya after her mother-in-law Anya who had passed away from cancer.

Everything name wise seemed to be fine until the excited mum got into a call with her sister to tell her about the name;

“We’ve been having frequent group Skype sessions with family during the stay-home mandate so our families can see the baby, see us, see each other and stay connected.

My sister pointed out that we named our baby ‘Lasagna,'” she wrote. “I hadn’t made the mental connection but if you put her first and second names together ‘Liz Ayna’ it really does make ‘lasagna.’

My whole family chimed in and now everyone keeps calling my daughter ‘Lasagna.'”

Ooops.

The mum went on to say that she told her family to stop but they continued to tease her on her name choice and she has currently ceased video calls with them.

I can get a little teasing, my family are big jokers, but if it’s really bothering someone you should stop, especially when there’s a sentimental connection to the name.

Some in the comments suggested that she change the baby’s name, while others chimed in that they have normal names and were still teased in school because bullies will always find a way.

I agree with the latter. If someone is a bully it won’t matter what your name is, they will find a way to annoy you.

Also there’s a good chance the kids she goes to school with won’t even know if middle name or might call her Beth Anya.
