Struggling to keep your baby’s bottom rash free? We’ve got some advice…

When it comes to caring for your little one, it’s only normal to want to protect your baby’s skin from any uncomfortable rashes or irritation.

Nappy rash is one of the most common skin complaints for young babies, but the good news is there are some simple steps you can take to treat and prevent the issue.

With that in mind, we’ve put together some of our top tips for protecting your baby’s bottom from nappy rash.

From miracle treatment and prevention products to simple routine changes, here’s how you can keep nappy rash at bay for good…

1. Make sure you’re changing baby’s nappies often enough

One of the most common causes of nappy rash is your baby’s skin being in contact with a dirty nappy for too long.

If your little one is dealing with an uncomfortable rash on a regular basis, it might be a sign that dirty nappies needs to be changed a bit sooner after a wee or poo, or that the area needs to be cleaned a bit more thoroughly during changing time.

If your baby seems to be extra prone to nappy rash, it might also be worth checking that the nappies you’re using are the right size. If your baby’s nappy is too tight, it might irritate the skin and if it’s too loose, it may not be soaking up pee properly which could also be causing some irritation.

2. Use the right nappy rash products

When it comes to treating and preventing nappy rash, there are some incredible products out there that can help you go the extra mile to protect your baby’s bottom.

Caldesene is an easy-to-use powder product that can be used daily to treat and prevent nappy rash. Quick and simply to use, all you need to do is sprinkle some Caldesene on your baby’s bottom at every nappy change to give your baba some extra protection against nappy rash.

It’s also worth considering that nappy rash can be caused by using the wrong products too. Fragranced soaps, bath liquids, washing detergent or wipes containing alcohol can all lead to nappy rash taking hold.

3. Take extra precautions after bath time

Fitting in bath time for your baby daily is one sure way to keep nappy rash at bay.

If your baby’s skin is still damp when you dress them after a bath, it could be creating the perfect conditions for nappy rash to take hold. After bath time, be sure to pat the area dry gently but thoroughly – don’t rub too harshly, as this can irritate the skin too.

Another handy tip is to let your baby lie on a table nappy-free for as long as possible after bath time, to let the area get some air.
