One of my favourite places in Europe for a family break is Mallorca, this gorgeous and sun-drenched little island which really has the best of everything.
Gorgeous beaches, delicious food, and the city of Palma, which is like a little mini-Barcelona (or Madrid, if you will), chock-a-block with great shops, tempting tapas bars, little market squares and lots of other things to see and do.
And if you are thinking of boarding a plane there come summer, we think you are going to love these gorgeous properties you can rent – cherry-picked for how perfect they are for families:
1. Puerto Pollenca
With ocean, park and town life all within easy reach, this sleek beach apartment makes the island experience simple and relaxing.
There is a playground and shady park next to the building and it is a 1-minute walk across the street to a family-friendly beach. Parents can find privacy and quiet in a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, including soaking tub and walk-in shower.
Family-friendly restaurants and a supermarket are within a 10 minute walk from home. The bus station is 1.5 blocks from the front door, with buses every 15 minutes to Alcudia beach.

2. Palma
A block from the beach, this spacious first floor apartment has a sunny roof terrace with hammock and play house and comes with bikes and a paddle surf board. Well set up for a family stay with cribs, high chairs and a bathroom with tub. There is a comfortable lounge with sofa and dining area.
The residence has plenty of toys and books for kids under-fives. Kids specially like being in the spacious roof top, which has a little wooden house for kids. There is a community swimming pool nearby and a sandy beach is 50m from the house. The neighborhood also has a lot of playgrounds.

3. Selva
This stunning villa with a pool in the quiet village of Selva in northern Mallorca is beautifully designed with exquisite paintings and sculptures. On a cobbled side street just off the main village square, it offers a taste of local Mallorcan life with weekly markets and summer festivals. It is laid out with bedrooms on the street level and a living and kitchen are on the first floor to maximise the sunshine; there is easy access to the wonderful outdoor area with dining terrace, covered lounge corner with BBQ, lovely garden with citrus trees and the 4x7m heated pool.
There is plenty at the house for children, including toys, kids DVDs, a heated pool and space to play in the garden. And there are even two resident tortoises.
The village of Selva is a quiet Mallorcan village, off the beaten track and full of local delights. It has a grocery store, bank, bakery, restaurants and bars plus a supermarket, swimming pool and tennis courts. Local attractions include the mountains, for hiking and cycling (100m away), the city of Inca which has shops, restaurants, supermarkets and bars, and the sandy beaches of Alcudia and Pollensa, 25 km away.
