One of my favourite places in Europe for a family break is Mallorca, this gorgeous and sun-drenched little island which really has the best of everything. Gorgeous beaches, delicious food, and the city of Palma, which is like a little mini-Barcelona (or Madrid, if you will), chock-a-block with great shops, tempting tapas bars, little market squares and lots of other things to see and do. And if you are thinking of boarding a plane there come summer, we think you are going to love these gorgeous properties you can rent – cherry-picked for how perfect they are for families: 1. Puerto Pollenca With ocean, park and town life all within easy reach, this sleek beach apartment makes the island experience simple and relaxing. There is a playground and shady park next to the building and it is a 1-minute walk across the street to a family-friendly beach. Parents can find privacy and quiet in a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, including soaking tub and walk-in shower. Family-friendly restaurants and a supermarket are within a 10 minute walk from home. The bus station is 1.5 blocks from the front door, with buses every 15 minutes to Alcudia beach. Palma A block from the beach, this spacious first floor apartment has a sunny roof terrace with hammock and play house and comes with bikes and a paddle surf board. Selva This stunning villa with a pool in the quiet village of Selva in northern Mallorca is beautifully designed with exquisite paintings and sculptures. On a cobbled side street just off the main village square, it offers a taste of local Mallorcan life with weekly markets and summer festivals. It is laid out with bedrooms on the street level and a living and kitchen are on the first floor to maximise the sunshine; there is easy access to the wonderful outdoor area with dining terrace, covered lounge corner with BBQ, lovely garden with citrus trees and the 4x7m heated pool.
