Trine Jensen-Burke

OK, so you have done Paris. Shopped your heart out in London. Had tapas in Barcelona. Soaked up the history in Rome.

Now what?

What cities should you visit next? Well, according to Google Trends, here are the five cities that everyone will be talking about – and traveling to in 2017.

Happy vacay, guys!

1. Havana, Cuba

Cuba is changing fast, and so if you want to get a glimpse of the real authentic Havana, go before it’s too late. This colourful city will make you feel like you have stepped back in time, and as for cocktails, you will apparently never have a mojito like the ones you get served here again.

2. Reykjavik, Iceland

This little arctic outpost is the hippest city going at the moment, and when you get there and start exploring not only their unique landscape and otherworldly nature, but also the up and coming food scene, you will no doubt see why. Go in January or February for the amazing Northern Lights – just remember to pack your warmest clothes!

3. Mexico City, Mexico

It is easy to think of Mexico as somewhere you go just for sandy beaches and strong tequila. But the massive and cosmopolitan Mexico City is absolutely worth a visit too. What you will discover is a vast city of rich history, world-class museums, striking Baroque architecture and beautiful neighborhoods clad with street art, boutique shops and galleries.

4. Tokyo, Japan

Yes, it is a long flight, but Tokyo is somewhere everyone really should visit in their lifetime. Nowhere else quite manages to balance ultra modern with ancient traditions like this gigantic city. Don’t miss the incredible gardens, the cutting edge design, the architecture, the food (oh, the food!) and the general visual feast for your eyes that this city is.

5. Toronto, Canada

It is no wonder that so many of those who visit Toronto end up dreaming of living there. This city is clean, modern and vibrant, and also very culturally diverse with thriving neighborhoods like Little Portugal and Chinatown.

The food scene is famous, and new additions pop up all the time, and dotted among all the modern skyscrapers are beautiful parks and gardens and the stunning lakefront.
