5 seriously fantastic holiday homes you can rent in France this summer

Trine Jensen-Burke

Fantasising about France this summer?

Aren’t we all? I mean; between the sun and the sea and sights – and let’s not forget about the food and the wine… Oh, the food and wine…

Anyway, if you, like us, are dreaming of sun-drenched days by a pool, mornings spent wandering around charming markets and eating your weight in gooey cheeses and perfectly crispy baguettes, all while also keeping the kids happy and entertained, well, look no further.

We have rounded up five seriously stunning French properties that can all be yours for the summer – now what are you waiting for:

1. Provence

For a taste of the beautiful French countryside, the Mas de la Roubine residence will live up to all your Gallic dreams.

This beautifully renovated old farmhouse (with a pool) is situated a mere five minutes from Saint Remy de Provence, has wonderful play spaces for kids and sleeps up to 12 people (plus 6 in the guest house for an additional fee) – meaning it is perfect if you want to head away with another family this summer (or bring the grandparents).

What else? Well, the land surrounding the property is vast, meaning the kids will never be short of things to do and explore. In fact; there is a pretty water stream, an olive grove with over 50 trees, a fish pond, a swimming pool with a pool house and an outdoor kitchen (swoon). Oh, and if you fancy keeping fit while on holidays, there is also a pretty jogging path directly behind the property.

Did we mention this residence also comes complete with a cinema room, hammocks, a trampoline, table tennis, an actual football pitch? Oh, and the interior design will make your Instagram feed the talking point for months to come.

2. The French Riviera

The Allee du Domaine Residence is part of a collection of private houses set in grounds with a chateau, tennis courts, two swimming pools and lovely gardens.

Sounds good? It gets better. The estate is built to resemble a medieval village, with the houses and private gardens set around the chateau, which is on the top of a hill – in other words; it’s all very fairytale-y.

The house itself can sleep up to nine people, is set over five floors (meaning it is better suited to a family with slightly older children) and is a short drive away from Cannes, Nice, Antibes and Monaco.

3. Beaujolais

If you dream of a holiday that is nothing short of regal, you will fall head over heels in love with the Domain de Vavril residence.

This ravishing 18th-century manor house with a pool sleeps up to eight adults and 12 children and is described as perfect for 2-3 families holidaying together.

There is a huge playroom with TV and DVD player, a fully-equipped American kitchen, a dining room for 17 guests and a cozy living room with fireplace.

The house is surrounded by the area’s famous vineyards, and there are plenty of things to see and do. Kids of all ages will love to play outside, and there are lots of optional activities that can be booked with the hosts, including cooking classes, tennis lessons and riding lessons.

The property in the heart of Beaujolais is 50 minutes from Lyon, an hour from Lyon Saint Exupery International Airport and 2 hours from Geneva Airport, and the hosts can arrange car rental or a driver service.

4. Provence

In Luberon, this beautiful family home with a large garden and a heated pool was once a shepherd’s stone house and barn. The property sleeps up to 12, and suits everyone in the family with beautiful hiking and bike trails, scenic drives, farmer’s markets, gorgeous villages, and antique shops all nearby.

The Grande Bergerie Residence is set on a third of an acre lined with vineyards and oak tree-clad hills, so the kids will love the open spaces to roam.

To design-conscious mamas, the house itself is a mix of traditional and modern design, including exposed stone walls, concrete floors, and wooden ceiling beams. Even better? The luxe linen bedding, clawfoot tubs, calming colors and oversized seating are some of our favorite luxuries.

5. Cannes

In the heart of Cannes, this gorgeous, light-filled Riviera townhouse is a mere eight minutes’ walk from the beach and harbour, and comes complete with a charming little garden too.

The Grasse residence is well set-up for a family stay, has a full kitchen and family-sized dining area inside and outdoors. All three bedrooms are spacious, with one being slightly smaller and ideal for kids. The house comes complete with two cribs, two high chairs and a walker, and there are toys available for babies and kids too.

The decor is elegant and refined and the location makes exploring Cannes and the Riviera with kids easy.
