West Cork is a feast for all the senses.

West Cork is often heralded the culinary capital of Ireland, and it’s easy to see why.

This summer, explore all the amazing food the rebel county has to offer with these immersive and appetising experiences.

Feast at all the incredible food on offer; explore its origins and meet the people bringing it from farm to fork.

1. Take a walking food tour

Enjoy stories, scenery and seafood as you explore the town affectionately known as the Gourmet Capital of Ireland, with Kinsale Food Tours.

The walking tour lasts 2.5 hours and is sure to satisfy hungry bellies and curious minds in equal measure.

2. Experience Europe’s smallest chocolate factory

For chocolate fans, a visit to Exploding Tree in beautiful Clonakilty is a must.

Sample the ethically made, sustainable chocolate or take part in one of the workshops regularly held at the tiny bean to bar facility.

3. Learn to smoke cure wild fish

A delicious tasting board lunch, all created on site, awaits at The Keep at Woodstock Smokery in Castletownshend.

While you’re there, you’ll learn the art of smoking locally caught fish through traditional processes.

4. Tour a buffalo mozzarella farm

Visit Ireland’s first water buffalo farm and dairy at Macroom Buffalo Farm.

Get up close and personal with buffalos and their babies, walk the land with ‘the buffalo lady’ and learn all about how mozzarella is made.

5. See how black pudding is made

Explore the history of black pudding and watch it being made at the Clonakilty Blackpudding Visitor Centre.

Take the tour and taste the world famous delicacy made from the Twomey family’s secret recipe.

6. Have a feast in an edible garden

Explore the flavours and aromas of saltbushes, pepper trees and bubblegum topiary at The Garden of Re-Imagination in Glengarrif.

Afterwards enjoy a tasting lunch using ingredients from the botanical paradise or choose to glamp in the botanical-themed boutique accommodation on offer.

There’s so much edible excellence to explore on the Wild Atlantic Way in West Cork, the only thing left to decide is where to go first.
