A Wizard School Is About To Open In County Mayo

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Wannabe wizards from all over Europe will be flocking to County Mayo this October, where Ashford Castle is currently enrolling for its Halloween Wizard School.

Running from October 29 to November 5, the two-day programme includes a Forbidden Forest Family Treasure Hunt, a visit to the hiding place of Dingle the Owl, an afternoon Chamber of Art and a Wizards Dinner before a supervised Harry Potter Movie Evening.

On day two, little wizards will become the House Elves’ little helpers at Cookery School before an afternoon Chamber of Witchcraft & Wizardry and a second Harry Potter Movie Evening in the sumptuous cinema, home to endless amounts of jarred sweets, popcorn and treats.

While the kids enjoy some magical (and supervised) fun, parents can kick back at the George V Table d’Hote Dinner, enjoy a spot of tennis, golf, cycling or billiards or kick back in the Solarium, sauna and indoor relaxation pool.

Set on 350 acres in County Mayo, on the shores of Lough Corrib and the River Cong, with a spectacular backdrop of woodlands, lake, river, and mountains, Ashford Castle has been voted as the World’s Number 1 Hotel by Virtuoso for 2016.

With its towering stone walls, hidden passageways and secret gardens, the 800 year old castle offers the perfect mystical Halloween escape.

At €1,900 for the full two-day package (two adults and two children) all this wizarding doesn’t come cheap so you’ll need to save up your Galleons and Muggle Money.

If you’re in the mood to make some magic happen you can book here.
