Wildlands Galway

Just in time for our summer staycations.

Wildlands, a brand new outdoor adventure centre with zip lines, climbing walls, playgrounds and much, much more, is set to open its doors to the public in just a couple of weeks, on 1 May.

Actually, Wildlands did, in fact, officially open back in August of last year, but were forced to close their door soon after, as new restrictions due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic were imposed nationwide.

The family adventure centre is situated beside Ballyquirke lake, a mere 10 minutes outside Galway City, and promises to be tons of fun for the whole family, no matter what the weather is like.

For thrill-seekers, one of Wildlands’ main attraction will no doubt be the Zip ‘n’ Trek course that soars up to 15 metres above ground, stretches over one kilometre and offers four circuits with a climbing tower and free-fall jumps.

There are 10 zip lines and dual zip lines in total, with the longest line extending to almost 100 metres. As well as this, you can climb across 40 rope bridge and swing obstacles in total, with the dizzying 16-metre high tower standing in the middle of the course.

Not a fan of heights yourself? There are also adventure playgrounds, archery, orienteering and woodland walks to chose from, as well as nature art activities, climbing walls and a whole selection of other fun things to do for families.

Younger children will no doubt enjoy the nature art activities, where they will learn to use things they find in nature as their materials for creating unique art projects.

We think the whole family will enjoy the woodlands walks, where you can learn how to build dens, set up a campfire, and discover lots more fun things to do out in the wild.

And should you get hungry, which you no doubt will, the Olive Tree Kitchen will have plenty of fresh, delicious food for you to choose from. Alternatively, for a quick bite that won’t break your stride, keep your eyes peeled for the Wildlands Wagon as it trundles around the centre bearing those much-needed bites and drinks to help you recharge.
