Epic family beach escapes in the UK – the perfect excuse for an Easter break

Amanda Cassidy

Pristine beaches, short-haul flights, chic interiors and plenty to amuse the children. Yes, this place exists.

In fact, it’s just a short hop across the water. We have compiled the best the wild British coastline has to offer in terms of family-friendly cottages on the beach. Hello, Easter holidays!

1.The Hobbacott Lane Residence, Bude, Cornwall

A cornish cob cottage that sleeps 5? Where have you been all my life! This fairytale house in the quaint village of Marhamchurch is just a short walk to the beach. It’s full of cozy corners to curl up with wine and a book, and plenty of fresh air for the littlies. A woodburning stove and pretty kitchen garden give this snug house an added dimension. 2. Victory House Cottage, Deal, Kent

A sweet deal in Deal. It’s right on the seaside, ideal for your mini beach bums. Pets are welcome at this fabulous pad too. It’s the last in a row of fishermen cottages and at two hours from central London, an easy enough trip. It’s spacious too with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Oh, and did we mention there is an outdoor sauna in the back garden. Your welcome.

3. Spring Cottage, Cornwall

A blast of fresh air, some fish n’ chips and a day at the beach; That’s my idea of a good time these days.  This pretty cottage sleeps 8 people and is available all year round. Ideal for a gang of children with its open-plan, beach vibes and a large wrap-around deck for evening al-fresco dining (fancy like) Swings in the garden and a cosy wood burning stove tick boxes for the whole family. This place just screams relaxed-chic. A four-hour jaunt from London – not the worst if you break it up and certainly worth it for the wild coastal views.

4. The Charton Rise Residence, Lyme Regis, Dorset

cottage jurrasic

Four adults, four children and a baby can fit into this chocolate-box cottage which is situated in the area known as the ‘Pearl of Dorset’ It’s a vibrant mix of country and coast and a great base for exploring the Jurrasic coastline along with your own little dinosaurs. Hunt fossils on the nearby Charton bay beach or just enjoy the log burning fire on the dark winter evenings. You will find a swing tyre and a sunken trampoline in the garden, and the large family kitchen is warm and welcoming. Hell, leave the children at home and head off with your other half for cosy wrapped up walks on the nearby beach and wine, lots of wine.

5. The Cob Residence, Bude, Cornwall

You had me at ‘renovated barn’. This beauty is on the Devon border, close to sandy beaches and fabulous seafood restaurants. It sleeps nine plus cots so probably more suitable for a larger family or a group of friends. There is plenty of outdoor space here and includes football nets. The scenery is to die for too and bonus points for the great provisions provided for children; DVD’s, toys, bunkbeds and wait for it, BLACK OUT BLINDS.
