Wonderlights is one Christmas event you can’t miss

If you’re looking for a Christmas event all the family will adore then Wonderlights is the one for you.

The magical event will be expanding this year with an extra Dublin location and a new location in Cork.

Wonderlights, Ireland’s largest immersive light show experience, is expanding to three magical locations for Winter 2024, bringing its breathtaking new themes to Marlay Park, Malahide Castle, and Fota House.

This year’s event promises to be more captivating than ever, with show dates extended across all venues until January 4th due to phenomenal demand.

Visitors will now have even more opportunities to experience this spectacular light show through the festive season.

Marlay Park By Night

In one of Dublin’s flagship parklands, Wonderlights will present ‘Marlay Park by Night’. This theme will transport visitors into a realm of illumination, celebrating the park’s natural beauty after dark. The Wicklow Way Wildlife installation will feature large golden sculptures of animals that have roamed the Wicklow Way, including rabbits, foxes, deer, squirrels, and even brown bears from times past.

The Night Sky will be projected onto a 30-metre hydro screen over the lake, offering an awe-inspiring display of the moon rising, the Northern Lights, and nocturnal wildlife under a starlit sky.

Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to ride a 35-metre-high observation wheel, exclusive to Marlay Park, for panoramic views of the illuminated landscape below.

Malahide Castle & Gardens: A Light Spectacular

At Malahide Castle & Gardens, A Light Spectacular will bring a radiant display of over one million lights to the historic estate.

This year’s theme will be brought to life with two new impressive tunnels of light. The Cathedral Tunnel, standing 5 metres tall and stretching 30 metres long, will immerse visitors in a dazzling passageway, while the Portal of Light Tunnel, 5 metres high and 10 metres wide, will extend 20 metres in length.

The enchanting light installations will be accompanied by projection mapping onto Malahide Castle, where an evolving storyline will unfold. The beloved Talking Tree will also return, delivering whimsical stories to delight guests as they journey through the light show.

Fota House, Cork: The Magic of Winter

In Cork, The Magic of Winter theme will transform Fota House and Gardens into a mesmerising winter wonderland, filled with large illuminated sculptures of arctic animals, meadows of glowing winter flowers, and an enchanting frozen forest.

The highlight of this experience will be the stunning projection mapping onto Fota House, where visitors will witness the building come to life with scenes of a grand Christmas celebration. From snow-covered gardens to festive interiors, immersing audiences in the magic of the season.

Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the show beyond Christmas as Fota House, like the other venues, will extend dates until January 4th.

Complementing the spectacles in each location are the Alpine Food & Drinks Villages.

There will also be Marshmallow Toasting Stations, adding festive indulgences to the evening.

Wonderlights 2024 will open at all three venues this November, tickets are on sale now with prices starting from €15 for preview tickets and €19.50 for standard tickets.

With extended dates and new themes, this is your chance to secure tickets to Ireland’s most magical light show event.
