4 things TO DO in Dublin town this weekend

HerFamily

Your plans this weekend have changed as of now. Check out how many cool things are happening around Dublin town. These events come highly recommended by the HerFamily.ie team.

Imagine the excitement for a little Bat fan?

1. Batman Day

New York, NY - June 24, 2014: Batman character in Times Square, greets people and poses for pictures with locals and tourists.

Dundrum Town Centre, just off the Balally green line Luas stop – Saturday, September 25th.

Why go? If you get in early, you’ll receive an exclusive Batman Day comic. If not, no worries there is 25% off any Batman products, comics and memorabilia in store.

What’s cool? The world’s most popular superhero is about to be celebrated with a whole lot of fun in a day-long schedule in South Dublin – and all over the world today too. Your little (and large) kids will get to meet the great comic book artists Dan Jurgen, Matthew Manning and Daniel Wallace at 2pm and – 4pm. There is even an official Batman Day goodie bag for your babes. That’s geek speak for superhero cool.

How much? Zippo. Unless you sample the goods or, invest in one of the DC Comic classics.

2. IFI Documentary Film Festival

Temple Bar, Dublin city – every day and evening, September 23 – 27th.

Why go? This is the longest running documentary film festival in Ireland. Slick, no?

What’s cool? This festival is jam-packed with the best content, visually speaking. There’s a documentary on Irish women in film and TV in Ireland and for those 80’s kids who grew up in Ireland there’s the brilliant flick Bargaintown. A host of other cool flicks based on fiction, science, world wars and love stories will entice you otherwise. Bliss.

How much? Tickets can be purchased online right here and start at €12.

3. Dublin zoo event

This weekend and any weekend, natch. Open from 9.30 – 4.30pm each day.

Why go? No matter what part of the country you live in it’s no more than a few hours journey to the zoo. It’s a cool spot for family and friends to have fun watching animal antics, and it is only ever closed on the usual two days of the year.

What’s cool? You can watch a variety of beautiful animals like the Asian Lion and the big Gorilla being fed from 11am – 3pm. A favourite is always the cute Penguin at 2.30pm.

How much? Family ticket (two adults, two kids), €47.

4. Foodie heaven at the Temple bar food market

Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin city centre – 10am – 4.30pm.

Why go? It’s a revolution in Dublin, and it’s all under a canopy so you can stay dry as you dine. Yippee.

What’s cool? You can choose from gigantic artisan quiches, wasabi-covered shrimp, matcha green tea, cold-pressed juices, deluxe coffee and so much more artisan food produce. Bring some cash. Your wallet will be empty, and your belly full. If you overdid it on the sweets, a stroll around nearby Dublin Castle will sort you out.

How much? Whatever you want to eat, drink and takeaway to enjoy you buy. It will be so worth it.
