This mum wrote a super sweet letter to the flight attendant who helped her baby

Orlaith Condon

While a holiday abroad might sound like the dream to many, to mothers it can be a very stressful experience – especially when travelling with infants.

With cases full of all the necessary equipment, we’re stressing from the moment we leave the house.

And boarding that plan is the height of our worry.

Multiple hours stuck inside a air-tight chamber, thousands of feet above the ground doesn’t always go well with young babies.

Nobody knows that better than Whitney Poyntz who was flying with her four-month-old daughter from Palm Springs to Calgary.

The mum was left feeling completely overwhelmed when her daughter started to kick up a fuss, thousands of feet in the air.

Posting about the experience on Facebook, Whitney said she had hoped it would be an easy flight for her and her husband.

“Once the captain came on the intercom it woke her up, which is obviously no one’s fault. After being nursed back to sleep, the headphones went in and we turned on our movies.

“About 30 minutes later all hell broke loose. Not sure if it was gas or maybe pressure, but we did not have a happy baby.”

The mum went on to reveal that she and her husband felt completely overwhelmed by the situation until one Westjet staffer stepped in.

“In comes the hero of the day – a flight attendant named Ashley.

“Ashley came up to us and asked if she could take her and walk up and down the isle.”

After getting over her initial hesitance, Whitney said yes and was immediately grateful.

“Now, it may not seem like a lot, but the experience was amazing. Never would I ever think someone would ever do that – volunteer to take your screaming child, but she did.”
