Yet to decide on your holiday destination?

Forget about package holidays and expensive, yet impersonal hotels, we are all about home rentals these days, and when travelling with kids in tow, we can not recommend Kid & Coe – and their simply amazing portfolio of family-friendly properties enough.

This Airbnb – but complete with high chairs, bunkbeds, toys and pool toys. And then some.

If you fancy heading to Portugal this summer (and why wouldn’t you, it being pretty much the hottest – and we’re not talking just temperatures – country in Europe right now), we have rounded up five seriously gorge homes you can rent. But hurry – these are bound to book up fast.

1. Lisbon

This beautiful and spacious family home, 2.5km from Rossio Square, includes a sunny deck, front and back yards and spacious living areas, plus toys and books for kids. Set up with a main house, annex, terrace and front and back yard deck, it is well set up for a family stay and includes a full kitchen and family-sized dining area.

The residence is in Lisbon Campolide, close to Amoreiras, the local shopping center. It is a quiet and safe neighborhood, and is approximately 25 minutes’ walk into the city.

The residence has plenty of toys and books for kids under 10 and is a great family space with a spacious backyard with an outside shower for the warmest days. There is a playground just in front of the house.

2. Algarve

This large linked villa in Quinto do Lago, five minutes’ walk from the beach, is spacious and light, surrounded by communal tropical gardens and a shared heated pool. The resort is known for its golf and is close to world-class courses. It is part of a development of eight properties sharing the swimming pool and lush gardens.

There is private access to the beach, a 5-minute walk away.

3. Sintra

This sleek and private, single-story contemporary villa designed by Frederico Valsassina sleeps up to 6 adults, 2 older children, and up to 3 infants. Surrounded by a fragrant natural pine forest, this stunning space is full of clean lines, floor-to-ceiling windows, and expertly curated design touches.

Kids will love the huge playroom filled with brightly colored toys and a cloth teepee, and adults and older children will love challenging one another on the private tennis court. This modern oasis is just minutes away from some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal and is perfect for a larger family or two smaller families vacationing together.

Location-wise, the property is only minutes away from top beaches: Praia Grande, Praia das Macas and Azenhas do Mar, and close to many Sintra-area attractions, including Palacio da Pena, Monserrate, Regaleira, Seteais, Azenhas do Mar, the Cascais and Estoril Coast, and Cabo da Roca.

4. Porto

Located within a UNESCO World Heritage area, this studio apartment in the heart of Porto’s historic district sleeps up to 4 and is perfect for a family with 2 children. The beautiful Clérigos Tower, the Douro River, the Ribiera, the stunning Livraria Lello, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, and convenient public transport are just steps away.

This residence in the center of it all, decorated with bright color and characterful paintings. Parents will enjoy a stroll down nearby Cândido dos Reis and Galeria de Paris streets for trendy independent shops, cafés, and exploring the many art galleries and alternative shops along Miguel Bombardo Street. Take the kids to Sea Life Porto, the Botanical Garden of Porto, and the capital city of Lisbon, all within a day’s journey.

5. Baleal

This penthouse apartment, sleeping up to six, comes with a shared pool, fabulous terrace for entertaining and is just a 10 minute walk to the beautiful Baleal beach. We love the spacious floor plan, the light airy feel and the touches of modern art.

Kids will adore the outdoor space with fantastic views and space to eat, sprawl and relax. Spend days learning to surf, indulging in a spot of yoga, enjoying the relaxed beach cafes, or simply paddling in the waves. Finish off the evenings back on your terrace, glass of local Baleal wine in hand.
