Tractor rides and toasted marshmallows – The Old Forge Glamping has it all

Melissa Carton

Looking for the perfect spot for a short break away?

Anyone who has read my travel pieces knows I love finding new glamping spots but while the last few I’ve written about have been in the West of Ireland I’m staying a bit closer to home this time.

The Old Forge is a beautiful scenic spot surrounded by some of Ireland’s favourite parks and centres including Chocolate Garden of Ireland, Rathwood Train and Clara Lara Funpark.

The Old Forge Glamping is a small boutique glamping site in Co Wicklow comprising of 4 yurts and 1 log cabin set in an old country house and farmyard

The Old Forge has four yurts and a log cabin sleeping up to four people in each tent and five in the cabin. Their accommodation offers a completely unique experience of camping as they have fully furnished bedding, a stove and candlelit lanterns.

All you need to bring with you is your bbq food (and maybe some wine) along with your good camping spirit and leave the rest to the staff at The Old Forge.

Each tent at the Old Forge fitted out with all your bedding needs so it is like staying home from home. The candlelit atmosphere of a yurt is something everyone should experience in life.

The Old Forge has a fully furnished kitchen set in the Georgian farmyard complete with fridge, oven, hob, toaster, tv, kettle and wood stove. We provide everything from bbqs, cooking utensils to a hot shower.

Sleeping four in a yurt during July and August costs €140 midweek and €320 for a weekend stay while five in a log cabin is priced at €150 midweek and €340 over the weekend.
