TRAVEL: 3 luxury Easter breaks that will cure parent exhaustion in two days

Seasonal breaks for spa bunnies

Katie Mythen-Lynch

If Guest Blogger Jennie Dennehy’s list of reasons you should book a hotel break  has you pining for fluffy hotel towels and buffet breakfasts, this little lot could be just the ticket.

Hand the kids an Easter egg, wrap yourself up in a pristine bathrobe and enjoy some five-star service from our pick of the best luxe escapes…

The destination: Cork’s swanky Hayfield Manor hosts The Manor Easter Egg Hunt in the gardens on Easter Sunday after lunch. There’s massages to be had after a dip in the pool or hot tub downstairs in the spa, and a choice of dinner venues, with Perrots and Orchids both serving delicious menus on the property. True decadence is Afternoon Tea served in the Drawing Room.

The deal: One night getaways with dinner and breakfast are available for a bargain €99.50pps. Book here.

The destination: Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa will be hosting a mini pet farm in the hotel lobby with hamsters and rabbits from the local Glenroe Farm in Wicklow as well as scheduled Kids Club activities in the hotel’s Games Room. Easter wouldn’t be complete without an Easter Sunday egg hunt on the hotel grounds while the grown-ups indulge in Afternoon Tea in the Sugar Loaf Lounge, or a relaxing treatment in ESPA. Easter chocolates will be delivered to all guests during turndown service!

The deal: Three night’s accommodation in a Deluxe room with breakfast each morning and a gourmet dinner for two on one evening in the newly refurbished Sika, is available from €420 per person sharing, based on two adults. Details here

Later, a Chocolate Afternoon Tea on The Gallery will have you sipping decadent hot chocolate whilst scoffing cocoa infused delights, finger sandwiches and freshly baked scones and clotted cream.

The deal: Chocolate Afternoon Tea at The Westbury is available from Wednesday, April 1 to Wednesday, April 8 (€45, 01 646 3311). An Easter Treat at The Westbury Hotel (from €330) includes an overnight stay for two, Afternoon Tea and a full Irish breakfast. Details here

The destination: The Easter Bunny would be hopping mad to skip Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Ireland (formerly Doonbeg Lodge) in Co. Clare this year, where a giant egg hunt, a golf clinic for kids and Easter bonnet making are just some of the fun events planned. Located a seven minute walk from the center of the resort, the Self Catering cottages offer panoramic views of the 17th fairway and Doughmore Beach is in close proximity to the cottages’ front door. The cottages range from one to four bedrooms, all ensuite and have a large living and dining area and a fully equipped kitchen.

The deal: Two bedroom suites with full kitchen available from €485 including breakfast. More here.
