After 30 years in operation, a major UK travel company has collapsed and has now cancelled all holidays.
Gold Crest Holidays, based in Ilkey in West Yorkshire, has ceased trading with immediate effect.
The company which specialised in trips to Disneyland Paris and other European cities, now has entered voluntary liquidation.
It has said that it is “deeply saddened” to have entered liquidation, as it confirmed it ceased operations with immediate effect on January 23.
The firm, which also operated under the names Advent, Advent Tours and Overseas Dream Weddings, cited a mix of financial pressures as the reason for the closure.
It added that all future departures are cancelled and that ABTA will manage refunds.
The company has cited the “severe” impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, changes to key business arrangements and a challenging trading environment driven by sharply escalating costs as reasons for the decision.
The business thanked customers, travel agents, suppliers and staff for their loyalty over the years, adding that it was “deeply saddened” to be unable to continue trading, the Express reported.
“After more than 30 years of creating unforgettable holidays, we are deeply saddened to announce that Gold Crest Holidays has ceased trading with immediate effect and has taken steps to enter voluntary liquidation”, the notice on the website reads.
Gold Crest Holidays isn’t the only tour company to suffer this fate this year, while several others ceased trading in 2025.
