If you’re looking for a budget family holiday, this city is the cheapest in Europe

Melissa Carton

This is one destination you should definitely put on your list of places to see this summer.

If you’re looking to get away during the school holidays without breaking the bank, this city has officially been named the cheapest city to visit in Europe, taking the title away from Paphos in Cyprus.

So where is it?

Krakow, Poland is now the best budget destination in Europe with an average weekend in the city costing as little as €185, that’s less than most nights out in Dublin!

Not only is Krakow easy on your pocket it’s also easy on the eyes, with stunning streets steeped in culture and history.

Krakow’s most visited historical site is of course Aushwitz, but for children younger than teens this may not be suitable.

Kraków Water Park or Park Wodny is a fantastic spot for young children and even has a pool side cafe for parents to relax in while the kids splash away.

There’s also Kraków Zoo which first opened in 1929 and is home to almost 300 different species of animals!

I’ve been recommended by a lot of my family recently to visit Eastern Europe and it’s easy to see why.

Not only is it filled to spectacular architecture and delicious food but out of the top ten cheapest European cities the top seven where all in Eastern Europe.

Only Athens, Lisbon and Lille made the cut for the rest of Europe.

Krakow was already on my list of cities to see before but now it’s on my list with a gold star beside it!

With two kids booking family holidays gets pricey very quickly, so finding a budget vacation is like finding gold dust.

Have you been abroad to Krakow before and if so what places would you say someone has to visit while they are there?
