Outrage as MIL buys matching Christmas PJs for all grandkids except step-grandchild

Laura Grainger

Awful.

A woman has sparked outrage online after it was revealed she bought matching Christmas pyjamas for all of her grandkids except for her son’s stepchild.

A screenshot of a social media post has gone viral after it was shared by the Shade Room.

The post shows a group of children sitting in front of a Christmas tree.

Four of the children are in matching festive PJs while a fifth, older-looking child sits at the end in a different outfit.

“A friend of mine is married. Mother-in-law bought matching PJs for all kids EXCEPT the one that doesn’t belong to her son,” the caption reads. “Is she wrong?”

Twitter users had a strong reaction to the post, with many outraged that a grown adult would exclude an innocent child from a festive family activity.

“A child was left out of a holiday activity & u asking me if she wrong,” @earringdealer1 wrote.

“You’re gonna deliberately hurt and exclude my child? That would be our last Christmas with grandma,” @Maltizm said.

“f you’re not going to get them ALL a pair, then don’t get any. And the other ones wouldn’t have put them on once I noticed there wasn’t a pair for him. And my MIL could shove her pyjamas up her… yeah,” @DeeNadjkovic replied.

“This is so wrong. My dad adopted me when my parents married and my grandparents pulled this shit. My dad went ape-shit on them and for *decades* everything was 100% equal for us kids. I don’t think the youngest ones ever knew,” wrote @RansdellLiz.

Other users were equally as disgusted with the parents for letting the four children wear the PJs in exclusion of the eldest child.

“Of course she’s wrong. And so are the parents. S**t like this affects kids all the way into adulthood,” @kristobleh wrote.

“The parents should’ve never let the other kids wear the PJs, instead they should’ve returned it. In front of the kids too, to send a strong message,” wrote @kitty_raging, with @IPisBusiness replying: “Came here to say this. Why is there photographic evidence of this cruelty? Someone didn’t stand up to grandmommy.”
