Kate’s gold chain – and how it nods to both Diana AND her children

How did we not notice this before?

What a beautiful tribute.

Since giving birth to her first child in 2013, Kate Middleton has been wearing a long gold chain; but what many don’t know is that there’s a secret meaning behind it.

The pendant, which was gifted to her by her sister Pippa, has her son George’s name engraved onto it, and gives a subtle nod to her mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

According to The Mirror, when Prince William was born, Prince Charles presented Diana with a gold necklace, that had ‘William’ engraved on the front.

And it seems like Kate wanted to follow suit.

Aptly named, The Duchess Necklace, the chain bears a round pendant with the engraving ‘George Alexander Louis’ alongside a small gold boy and a gold heart with the letter ‘W’ for her husband, William.

It was designed after Diana’s necklace, and it’s actually available to buy online.

Merci Maman is the designer of the gold pendant, and you can buy it here for €109.

We think this could be the perfect present for any royal-obsessed new mum out there.
