According to The Telegraph, the Health Council of the Netherlands has found that consuming three to five cups a day (we’d do that in three hours) can reduce your risk of stroke and/or diabetes.
Spokesman Eert Schoten explained: “We noted that in the scientific literature in the last 10 years, there are clear signs that drinking tea is good for your health.
“Three to five cups a day reduce blood pressure, diabetes and stroke risks, so this comes as one of our 16 guidelines.”
They do advise that people drink black or green tea (apparently that herbal stuff just doesn’t cut the mustard) and even school children are served tea as a lunchtime drink - we’re sure the parents love that when they get home.
As well as the aforementioned benefits, tea is also said to strengthen your immune system, prevent plaque, and protect the brain against nerve damage.
Now if that isn’t a good enough reason to take a break and grab a cuppa, we don’t know what is!
