Not only will you probably be able to find most of the ingredients in your kitchen, but your skin will thank you for taking a more friendly approach to tackling the issue.
1. Apple cider vinegar
Dip a cotton ball into one part vinegar and three parts water, then apply directly to blemish with a cotton bud and leave on overnight.
2. Yoghurt and honey
Mix one tablespoon of plain yoghurt with one tablespoon of honey, then apply to face with a cotton pad. Leave on for around 15 minutes, then rinse.
3. Egg whites
Whisk three egg whites until they are frothy. Let them sit for a few minutes before applying to face using fingers. Leave on for around 20 minutes before rinsing.
4. Lemon juice
Apply freshly squeezed lemon juice directly to spots with a cotton bud. You could also try mixing the juice with a bit of yoghurt if it stings too much.
5. Garlic
Crush two cloves of garlic, mix with a little water and let it sit for 10 minutes. Use a cotton ball to soak up the liquid and apply to the spots. Can be left on overnight.
6. Porridge oats
Prepare porridge with water as you normally would (or according to directions), add one tablespoon of honey, then leave to cool. Apply to your face and leave on for around 30 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
7. Bicarbonate of soda
Mix two tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda with two tablespoons of water to form a smooth paste. Apply to spots and leave for 15 minutes before rinsing off.
