61% of Irish adults would choose everyday sex over movie fantasies

No thanks, Mr. Grey.

Katie Mythen-Lynch

As moviegoers brace themselves for the release of 50 Shades of Grey on February 13th, new research has revealed that 61% of Irish adults prefer real, garden variety sex over the lure of fiction.

According to a Durex survey, 75% of people cite an emotional bond as important in a relationship. We’re not the most adventurous bunch either; 28% of adults have fantasised about trying new things in the bedroom but admit to never actually carrying them out.

Durex hopes to change all that however, with a new guide designed to help Irish couples shake things up the boudoir. The #50GamesToPlay Guide (a handbook of sex tips, games and inspiration to help couples put some fun back into the bedroom) can be downloaded for free here. A rather saucy promotional video has also been released to whet appetites for the guide.

“Often, couples draw inspiration for things to try in the bedroom from films and books, but it can be hard to know how to translate things we’ve seen on screen or read in saucy novels into reality successfully.” says sex and relationships expert Alix Fox.

“This new video and the #50GamesToPlay Guide will hopefully give Irish couples a little push in the right direction – get them thinking, get them communicating, and get them turned on!”
