BOOK REVIEW: Eeny Meeny by M.J. Arlidge

HerFamily

Some books stay with you. This is one of them.

Eeny Meeny by M.J. Arlidge is not a new release, it came out in 2014, but it is crime thriller that you really shouldn’t miss.

A murderer is on the loose but they’re not just killing at random and they’re targeting people in twos. What’s even more unnerving is that they’re giving the victims a choice: kill or be killed.

Detective Inspector Helen Grace is ambitious and talented but even this latest crime spree chills her to the bone.

She must find the culprit before more innocent people die but that task turns out to be much harder than it seems, especially with superiors on your back and journalists knocking at your door.

Disturbing but captivating, this novel will have you staying up to all hours and reaching for it at every spare moment.

It’s dark and at times gruesome but it’s also intriguing and intelligent, packing a real punch in terms of plot and character.

There are plenty of twists and turns but Arlidge never surpasses the realms of reality. His narrative is tantalising and terrifying, delivering the story from a number of perspectives.

DI Grace is a protagonist that, despite all of her flaws, the reader can really get behind and invest in.

So if you haven’t read this fantastic novel yet, you need to, but be prepared to kiss the next few days (and your nerves) goodbye.
